How am I thankful?
Let me count the ways.
Thankful for the sun
that shines, thankful for the rain,
Thankful for the
autumn trees, and summer fields of grain,
Thankful for the
winter snows, thankful for the cold,
Thankful for the
blessings dear that all the year does hold,
Thankful for the
morning light that through my window comes,
Thankful for the
evening sky as summer insect hums,
Thankful for the
voices clear that sing in Sunday Choir,
Thankful for the
embers bright that glow within the fire,
Thankful for the
chance to know people near and far,
Thankful for the
blessed night and for the morning star,
Thankful for the
table set with feast beyond compare,
Thankful for the joy
and life with all those whom I share
The good news of the
power of God,
A love that shall not
end,
And for the prayers I
say each night when my head I do bend,
Thankful for the ones
who also shared their life with me,
Who now reside within
God’s home for all eternity,
For they have helped
to shape my life, by adding love and hope,
Teaching me the way
of faith, a way that helps me cope
With times I fail to
do my best, when things have gone awry,
And I can trust in
God’s intent, for someone such as I.
For if it were not
for God’s grace, for God’s unending grasp,
I could not say a
thankful word not knowing first nor last.
But God has been so
good to me, that when good and bad should cease,
So thankful will my
response be, for I will know God’s…
Peace,
Alex
